Village2Village FAQ

What is Village2Village?

Village2Village is a new way to help entire communities in developing countries receive resources needed to break out of the cycle of poverty and reach self-sufficiency.

Pooled Contributions from supporters will provide the required financial resources to help communities overcome barriers to progress. Contributions will be directed towards activities such as Water & Sanitation, Health, Food Security, Agriculture, Education, Women’s & Children’s Rights and Economic Development.

World Vision partners with each community for 12-15 years to help them reach their full potential and establish secure, sustainable success – one that can continue to thrive.

Semi-annual project updates and online resources enable supporters to learn about communities and their needs, follow their journey, and see the real, human impact being delivered.

How is Village2Village different from Child Sponsorship?

Whereas Child Sponsorship connects you to a child in the community, Village2Village facilitates a connection between the donor to participating communities.

Pooled resources from Village2Village donations are designed to include and benefit all members in the participating communities- children, women and men.

If you prefer to engage or connect with a child directly, then we encourage you to consider Child Sponsorship. This experience offers you the opportunity of a 1:1 engagement with a particular child. You can journey along with them in their development and participation in the community, as well as send letters/ emails and special gifts.

How does my monthly support benefit the communities?

Village2Village is a new product. We are offering the pledge product as a new experience that enables donors to make a positive impact with communities. Specifically, this can be an avenue of engagement with communities in developing countries that resonates with them; which they prefer and can get on board with for a sustained period. Currently, there are 8 communities across 6 countries that are participating in the pledge product. If enough support is given to address resource needs in these 8 communities, we will be looking at plans to expand the list of participating communities in the future.

Does each community carry out the same type of activities?

We partner with local communities to understand their priorities. Therefore, communities have direct input into identifying what needs are important to them.
